The Chicago Cubs
Wrigley Field. Wrigley Field was originally constructed in 1914 by Charles H. Weegham owner of Chicago's minor league entry in the Federal League, a team known both as the Federals and the Whales. The team, which had been playing its home games on the athletic field of Depaul University, played the 1915 season at the new Weegham Park. After the Federal League folded in 1915, Weegham made a deal with Charles P. Taft of Cincinnati to purchase 90% of his shares in the Chicago Cubs for $500,000. With Cubs co-owner Albert Lasker, he moved the Cubs from their former home, the West Side Grounds, to the newer Weegham Park. The field became known as Cubs Park in 1920 after the team was bought by the Wrigley Family and was rechristened Wrigley Field in 1926 in honor of William Wrigley, Jr.
