Carson Palmer (born December 27, 1979 in Fresno, California), was a quarterback for the Cincinnati Bengals of the National Football League. He attended the University of Southern California, where he won the Heisman Trophy Award in 2002 in his senior season. He was drafted by the Bengals with the first overall pick in the 2003 NFL Draft and signed a 9-year, $118.75 million contract extension on December 29, 2005. Palmer was the first Heisman Trophy winner since Vinny Testaverde in 1987 to be selected with the first pick of the NFL draft.Prior to the 2011-2012 season, Carson requested to be traded. Bengals owner Mike Brown said he'd rather let Carson Palmer retire than agree to trade the quarterback. With a shortage of quarterbacks out there, and Oakland needy and willing to give up a couple future draft picks, Brown reversed his position and traded Palmer to the Raiders in mid October, 2011.¹
His 2008 season was cut short by an elbow injury, but he showed what he was capable of in both 2006 and 2007 by throwing for over 4,000 yards. Here are his stats.
